World History AP

This one-year course will examine world history, centering on the intensification of international contacts among Asia, Europe, and Saharan and sub-Saharan Africa. The empires of China and Mesoamerica, the expansion of Islam, Mongol dominance, the period of new political units in Africa and Europe, cultural and social aspects, and long-distance trade will be examined. This course will emphasize relevant factual information, develop critical thinking skills through analyzing and interpreting information, provide for understanding of the changes in international frameworks, and encourage comparisons among major societies. Advanced Placement World History will contribute to the preparation for the advanced placement World History Exam will fulfill the World History credit required for high school graduation. It is expected students will take the AP exam in May. See your school counselor if you have a financial hardship.
