Mr. Clark
Instructional Web Design Coordinator

Mr. Clark was born in Spokane, Washington many moons ago … he and his family moved to Alaska when he was a young lad and Mr. Clark served as free labor for his step-father during the school construction boom of the 1980’s following completion of the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. He has lived in over two dozen Alaskan communities ranging from bush villages (Koyuk) to fishing communities (Adak, Kodiak) to real Alaskan “cities” (Juneau, Ketchikan, North Pole, Wasilla). He called Juneau home for over twenty years. His first seven years in Vegas, he resided in the little village of Blue Diamond nestled in Red Rock National Conservation Area . He now resides in the city. His spare time is consumed with spending time with his son Wylie and mountain biking, road biking, climbing, snowsports and all things web & computers. He shares a loose professional affilliation with with these fine folks in Haines, Alaska.
Holding more degrees than a household thermometer, Mr. Clark has invested quite a bit of time in college. He holds a B.L.A. in Social Science, a M.A.T. in Secondary Education, and a M.Ed. Technology from the University of Alaska, Southeast. He also holds a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law and is working toward his M.Ed.Leadership. In his former life, he clerked in Alaska for Simpson, Tillinghast, et. al. representing, among many others, Southeast's Regional Native Corporation, Sealaska, instructed as adjunct law professor at UAS (legal research, writing; contracts), worked in the fields of oil and gas (BP - ARCO merger), tourism, retirement securities and benefits (ERISA), corporate governance, tax, corporate bankruptcy, labor law (NLRB cases), and served as the Labor Relations Specialist for Alaska Dept's of Administration, Fish & Game, and Natural Resources.
Mr. Clark, who apparently likes to refer to himself in the third person, began his career with the Clark County School District as a World History teacher at the brand new Canyon Springs High School, Leadership & Law Preparatory Academy in 2004. He was then promoted to an Educational Technology Strategist for the school’s Leadership & Law Magnet program. Following three years of devoted service at the ‘Canyon, Mr. Clark was hired on as an Instructional Web Design Coordinator II for Virtual High School, the district’s accredited online high school. He serves as the district’s Blackboard, MediaShare, and GeniusSIS systems administrator with assistance from Director Wray and his staff.
Mr. Clark looks forward to working with the students, community, faculty, and staff in forging VHS into one of the nation’s top online high schools! |
